Tips on Using Concealer

A concealer's main function is hiding unsightly blemishes on the skin; however, it can do so much more, such as evening out your skin tone or reducing the look of lines, wrinkles or even pimples. Getting some useful tips on using concealer can mean the difference between having the look you want and creating a mess of your face.

Foundation vs. concealer

It is important to remember that concealer is not foundation and should not be treated as such. While it is okay to apply a large amount of foundation, concealer is applied beneath it; therefore, you do not need to apply as much as you may think. While it would take lots of foundation to hide an imperfection, just a small amount of concealer on your finger dabs away the blemish. Use the tips of your fingers to smooth concealer over the area until the spot is covered. Once you have the concealer on, you can apply the foundation over it.

Getting creative with concealer

You can also use concealer near the upper corner of the eyes to highlight those areas; this can make your eyes appear wider than they are. You can get the same effect with a dark concealer along the nose to give your nose a more uniform appearance.

A dry territory

Make sure your concealer is dry before applying any foundation; this way, the foundation adheres much better to your face. Your imperfections are perfectly hidden, and the foundation gives your skin a radiant glow.
